Over the years, from my own traveling experiences and from sharing in those of my clients I have gradually evolved my views on what make up the great trip for many people, how we view the places we visit, what we take from those experiences and how they shape us.

How we travel and the impact we have when we travel has become increasingly important and of interest to many of us.  The demand from the travelling consumer for responsible, sustainable, considered product has significantly changed the choices we have.

I have come to think of these considerations as Thoughtful Travel and through regular newsletters to which you can subscribe, I will be sharing news, products, and tips that I hope will be of interest to you as we move further into a new age of travel.  These won’t be exhaustive lists or resources of all things ‘green’ or ‘responsible’ it’s a place to find ideas and to maybe look at your future travels through a different lens.

Considerations such as…

  • Fuel economy of an airline’s fleet
  • A counties ‘green’ credentials
  • How engaged a ground supplier is with their local community and issues it faces
  • If a resort has a substantiality policy in place
  • Whether a restaurants produce is local and seasonal

…are now no longer niche aspects of travel, they are much more common, excepted and for some, mainstream thinking.  If you’ve started by looking at offsetting the carbon emissions for a flight, you might now be looking for an airline with the best fuel economy rating.  If you have enjoyed a boutique property in the past, you may now be interested in an eco-resort with high substantiality credentials. Or if you have enjoyed a wildlife tour or safari, you might now be seeking suppliers who are involved in animal conservation in their local area.

Many approaches and products are inspiring and exciting, and the information we include is collated to assist and inform.  If you have a Thoughtful travel experience, you’d like to share or you are interested in a particular product or destination we’d love to discuss and progress your thoughts.

It might not be possible to tick all of the boxes for your trip, the budget might not allow or the supply might not be there yet but even being aware of the options, thoughtful about them or discussing them with friends or family adds to the conversation/greater awareness, helps to shape the landscape for all our future travels and protects and improve the most wonderful corners of the world.
